Getting to and from the airport

The airport is 21km from downtown San Francisco.

Taxi - you'll find taxi ranks outside the Arrivals level of all terminals. Taxis are metered and must accept fares to all Bay area destinations.

Bus - SamTrans buses run a 24-hour service between SFO, San Mateo County and parts of San Francisco. Buses stop outside Terminal 2 and 3 Arrivals, and at International Terminal Level 1, Courtyards A and G.

Train - the BART rapid transit provides train services in San Francisco and the East Bay. The airport's BART station is on the Departures/Ticketing level of the International Terminal, Boarding Area G. For security reasons, it's generally recommended that tourists choose another transportation for late-night travel, especially if traveling alone.

Hotel shuttle - free airport shuttles are provided by many of the nearby hotels, including the Westin, Hampton Inn & Suites and Marriott Waterfront.

Car rental - car rental agencies are based at the airport’s Rental Car Center. You can get there from the terminals using AirTrain Blue Line.
